Sleep Apnea

Sunday, January 10th, 2010

Sleep Apnea is the temporary cessation of breathing caused by an obstruction of the air passage, and is often characterized by excessive snoring.. This occurs when the soft palate relaxes and the uvula (soft tissue attached to the soft palate) collapses, causing air obstruction and cessation of air flow for several seconds. Those who suffer sleep apnea have often been advised to use oral appliances, undergo surgery or purchase expensive Continuous Positive Air Pressure machines. This sleeping condition is new to me, and I was surprised to know about this. This is also something that we should be alarmed of!

High Confidence Diet

If we are not able to make our child say and believe “I can do it”, chances are that he or she will actually do it. Some call this positive thinking. Some call it self-fulfilling prophecy. Still others call it ego boosters. But no matter how you call it, it leads to the same thing: self-confidence. Based from experience, I have tips on how to boost your child’s confidence, they are as follows:
• Teach your child how to have a positive image.
• Teach your child the value of teaching a younger child..
• Teach your child the value of holding family meetings.
• Teach your child how to follows rules, routines, and transistions.
These steps would really help a lot in developing your child’s confidence. Every children needs loads of it!

Magic-Marker Wisdom

Tuesday, March 31st, 2009

My husband told me about a patient who checked in to a Florida hospital for a life-saving amputation. He awoke to find that the wrong foot had been removed. IN the same hospital, another patient had surgery on the wrong knee.

Defenders of the healthcare system point out that such tragic cases of malpractice are like airline crashes—they are newsworthy because they are so rare. In that Florida hospital, officials responded with a plan to avoid what could go wrong: Staffers now write “NO” with a black Magic Marker on the healthy limb.
