Chiodo Collection
Gucci unveils Chiodo, a new collection of timepieces. I have read from a magazine that it was Frida Giannini, the creative director of Gucci, who got the idea of basing the design on the iconic head square head nail employed by Gucci since the 1960’s. The nail motif has been used in both silver and gold as a decorative detail on the most coveted accessory items. The symbol traces its roots to the equestrian world and is modeled on the pyramidal nails used to hold the shoe on the horse’s hoof. The Chiodo offers square or round watch case shapes enriched by a luminescent mother-of-pearl dial. Distinctive and modern, the new collection reinvents the classic Gucci luxury into a desirable modernity for today.
